Today the US Drought Monitor updated their weekly drought conditions across the nation.
While some regions are improving like the Northeast
or the Southeast this last week vs the same time last year a nice reversal.

However, in the West, the drought is growing stronger in some areas

The drought conditions in California have exploded:
The percentages of D2 and D3 have really switched. This transition in to deeper drought conditions will not good for the horticultural/agricultural production and fire threats are very real early this early.
Nevada has more extreme drought now
Oregon has gone from moderate drought to severe drought.
Washington has gone from dry to moderate drought.
The drought monitor report for next week will be very interesting to see how it will change. Since the forecast is showing very little to no rainfall for most of the West.
